I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a Christian in that I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe He died for me, that I repent and follow him I can live with Him again. I'm far from perfect. Jesus said, Be ye Therefore perfect as your Father who is in Heaven if Perfect. In the BOM as he appeared to the People in the Americas he said, Be ye therefore Perfect as I, or your Father who is in Heaven is Perfect. I certainly am not perfect.
Obviously, when Christ was on the earth, his teachings threatened many and they attacked Him and put him to death for teaching the Truth. Obviously when Joseph Smith was on the earth and declared that he had received a vision from God he threatened many with his teachings of the truth. Like Jesus Christ Joseph Smith was murdered for teaching the truth. The common teaching of Joseph Smith's day as well as today it that revelations has stopped, that the heavens are closed, that the bible is complete, that we need no more of God's words. That if a rightous man where to coime onto the the earth and proclaim that he has received a vision from God that that man is posessed by the Devil. I ask you, is that what Heavenly Father wants or is that what Satan wants?
The Ancient Prophet prophisied of thing to take place in the latter-days. Many of these prophesies are contained in the Bible. Don't you believe that there should and would be a Prophet to record those things when they where fulfilled in the latter-days. Where does the Bible say that it contains all of God's words to all of His children since the beginning of time till the end of time? Apostels are Prophets
Eph. 4: 11-14
11 And he agave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Amos 3:7
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
It is much easier to follow a dead Prophet than a living one. It is easy to manipulate the words of one record or witness.
Why did God ever Provide a Prophet in the first place?
