Working in the natural healthcare field for several years, I noticed a growing trend with supplement and herb companies refusing to sell their products to anyone but licensed health care professionals. Massage therapists, colon hydrotherapists, nutritionists, etc. who could once carry their products were being told that they would no longer be able to. And I don't mean just one or two companies either!
I had the opportunity to ask a naturopath-turned-sales rep about this and he explained to me that pharmaceutical companies are infiltratiing supplement and herb companies and developing 'propietary' formulas that allow them to essentially place a patent on them and cash in BIG! Also, the medical community...recognizing all the lost revenues by debunking alt/comp medicine...are now jumping on the bandwagon so they can get their cut of the action!!! He said that in the coming years health food store shelves will likely be baren of all their herbs and combination supplements...and only be able to get/sell single vitamins of minerals...obviously in very low doses.
Yep...you'll have to go to your allopath to get your herbs and supplement formulas! You know...the same allopaths who don't know didly about nutrition or herbs...and have been bashing natural healing for years!!!
Then again...they did something similar with tryptophan many years ago...when they took it off the health food store shelves because it was too 'dangerous' while allowing any prescribing physician the right to script it! Of course, Prozac was such a big seller that there was no reason to use a safe and natural alternative!!!
Comforting, huh?!!!
