"Adding the cayene pepper is necessary as it breaks up mucus and increases warmth by building the blood for an additional lift. It also adds vitamin B & C." (Direct quote from the book Master Cleanser by S Burroughs.)
According to the author of this website:http://www.bc1.com/~vitagem/Master_Cleanser.htm, the Cayenne pepper is a key ingredient as it breaks up any accumulated mucus and acts as a cleanser for the digestive, respiratory, and circulatory systems. The lemon supposedly breaks it up too, but it seems that the Cayenne pepper is integral to the overall success of the cleanse.
(Even though you're allergic to cayenne pepper, if you want to find out the the full benefits of it, check out this website:

MY TWO CENTS: I think it depends on what benefits you are trying to get from this fast. If you're trying to lose weight, then I'm sure you will get results. Ten days of nothing but juice?! There's no way you couldn't lose those pounds. If you're doing it to rectify any digestive or respitory problems however, taking the lemon drink sans the cayenne, the results probably won't be as dramatic or effective (if at all). Is the lemon enough on its own to break down the excess mucous? From all the evidence, the cayenne seems to be a necessary ingredient in order to cleanse any mucus buildup you would have if you suffer from either of these conditions.
I'm sure your body knows what's best. If your body is screaming for you to do it, then go for it, just be mindful that your results may not be the same as other peoples'.
