Let’s assume that, in spite of this administrations’ failure in economics, health, education, welfare and (you name it) policies, things go exactly as planned relative to the June 30, Iraq turn-over date. We must all realize that Karl Rove strategically selected June 30, relying on an American public dedicated to understanding only the detailed intricacies of “Star Search” and “Jack Ass.”
On June 30, as promised, thirty-five (approx) hand-picked, U.S. compliant Iraqis will begin governing Iraq. Actions this week have firmly proven that neither the Iraqi police recruits nor the defense forces are willing (or able) to commit to the protection of their facilities, let alone the new Iraqi constitution. Does Iraq’s populace turn to the “select thirty-five boot-lickers” for leadership and guidance? Will the carrot of democracy trump centuries of tribal loyalty, religious radicalism and territorial claims? Who will speak for the various interest groups when compromise becomes impossible? (Let’s not forget what it took to integrate southern U.S. schools.) Will the fabulous thirty-five stand up to Iran, Syria, al Quiada, Hammas? Anyone who has followed this “chicken hawk debacle” knows that this façade of Iraqi self-government is a house of cards.
Rumor has it that Islamic leaders from throughout the sect, met in London during the middle of March. The dramatic upswing in American deaths was preordained during these meetings. It appears that we have been placed on the back of a very pissed-off tiger…staying on by firmly grasping its ears.
Democracy in the near-term in Iraq is blatantly absurd. It always has been. Only the American public bought it…no one else did. Not the Europeans, Asians, Africans, Arabs…just the dumbed-down, Fox News watching, American public.
So where are we going from here? Halliburton has not been idle as it pilfered millions from the Treasury. We have been building strategic, fortified, permanent bases in Iraq.
Military assignments in Iraq will be similar to those in South Korea. The free flow of oil from Iraq will be assured. As fewer and fewer young Americans will volunteer for oil supply protection, a national draft will be initiated. The hundreds of millions of, once, neutral Muslims, will finally have to admit that democratization had nothing to do with the invasion of a sovereign nation. Petty Imams will no longer have to exhort there increasing numbers of Christian-hating followers…they will merely point at videos of the U.S. military patrolling the streets of Iraq’s cities and villages.
The U.S. has precipitated a world-wide polarization that assures an indefinite arms race, continued Terrorism
and the knawing-away of civil liberties as we seek to prevent the inevitable outcome of what this administration has spawned.
Hate cannot be defeated on the battle field. Terrorism
is not a naval fleet, tank battalion or an infantry division. One does not declare war on terrorism. Will Israel cure the Palestinian conflict by building their wall? What did the Maginot Line accomplish?
Will we promote democracy by enslaving Iraq?
“ Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”
