Candida people need to be very careful with raw foods. As wonderful as they are, you cannot just jump right in and eat nothing but raw. Best to start off with a glass of juice a day, some salad, and everything else cooked.
Raw foods are very hard on the liver, spleen and kidneys. Candida people have weakened these very organs thanks to the candida imbalance. If you have low amounts of HCL, then these foods don't get fully digested and offer up more fodder for the candida to feed upon in the colon as they rot there. Also, sprouts contain a LOT of phytotoxins to protect them from grazers while they're so vulnerable, so that the sprouts can live to become a plant. They're not as healthy as people like to think.
That's why I recommend starting off with vegetable stews full of heating spices and lentils or mung bean. It all gets digested just fine, and you can supplement with enzymes to replace what was lost in cooking. You'll feel AMAZINGLY good on this kind of diet right away. :)
Until you do a lot of liver management, don't do a whole raw diet. You'll slow down your recovery time. You will eventually recover because good food is good food, and of course cutting out bad food gives the body a great chance to heal.
Most of what people say healed them actually did not, it's what they did NOT do that healed them!!! You just have to get out of your body's way for it to heal, it's very smart and knows how to do it quite well when you aren't there messing things up with bad food and lifestyle choices. ;)
If you tend to get cold easily, and your lips peel quite often, get chapped easily, if your tongue has jagged cut-like impressions on it in addition to the center line, if you get nervous or worried and insomnia easily, then raw cold foods are the worst thing for you.
If you get hot easily, rarely wear sweaters in cold weather and have a great appetite and imbalances tend to manifest as skin rashes, then raw foods are especially good for you.
Beware of any diet that claims to work for absolutely everyone. As we all know, there are different body types and tolerances, and we have to respect our individuality in order to get well. That's why I like Ayurvedic medicine, which recognizes various body types, and the
Blood Type Diet .
Hope that helps! :)
