Hiya Amy!
Yes, diarrhea contra-indicates an enema/colonic. Skp the morning dosage of ES and you should be able to do a
colonic later that day or the next day. Some people do the salt water flush instead of morning ES, that you can do even if you have diarrhea and it can be very effective. :)
I don't use the ES, I simply make sure to really really crush the stones with gold coin grass for a couple weeks before a flush. I find that since I started using GCG, I see more chaffe, and it's odd looking, rather like algea. :) I still feel much better after a flush, so even tho there are no stones (and I probably got rid of mine years ago when I first flushed anyway) I think it's still highly therapuetic. :)
When the liver becomes swollen/painful, in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine we call that "heated." A heated organ is a weak organ. It needs to be pampered and tonified for awhile. That means avoiding foods that stress it, such as citris fruits, bananas, black pepper. You can visit www.sensiblehealth.com for good guidelines as to how to spoil the liver. :)
It also helps to take in some ginger to help with swelling, eat a very clean diet with only good fats from oils such as olive oil and flax and safflower. NO flour, especially flour-based desserts. Pasta is okay generally.
Avoid cold drinks, onlyl drink room temp or better yet, herbal tea.
Take an herbal compound such as Julia's Chinese Bitters or less expensive Planetary Formula's Bupluerum LIver Cleanse.
It could very well be that a lot of the pain is due to sharp stones irritating the intra-hepetic (sp?) ducts. Are you doing the pre-flush prepwork of dissolving the stones carefully? Liquid phosfood and apple juice is the cheapest way. Gold Coin Grass seems to be a very effective way too, and takes away pain nicely.
Hope that helps! :)
