I have to elaborate on the mustard incident. That particular mustard, quite frankly is too spicy for me. When I would use it I would do so very sparingly, to avoid the burning, the runny nose and eyes. But all the sweet things I put in my mouth tasted sickeningly sweet and, as I stared into the fridge, the only thing that called to me was the mustard - which then tasted like the best thing ever! I ate it like pudding!
A California girl I am not. I say this despite the fact that I've lived here almost ten years now. I was born and raised in Massachusetts and still consider it my home. And so it is the East coast that I will be travelling to in June, leaving this wretched LA weather (why can't it just snow here once? Just once!?). I used to live in New Mexico - Albuquerque for 2 1/2 years then Santa Fe for a year. I wasn't too fond of Albuquerque, but Santa Fe was lovely and visiting the nearby pueblos was great (I highly recommend Cochiti Tent Rocks and travelling the gorge behind it). But, as I am from the Eastern vicinity, I couldn't keep myself enamoured with the desert "foliage", I missed all the green from home. (The logical next step would have been to head back East, but I came to LA to work amongst the glitter and glamor of Hollywood.)
By the way, you kept me honest last night. Late in the evening (okay, 9:30ish) I was tempted to rip open a bag of cashews, but I said to myself 'You can't do that, you just told Lynne you were on day two having already botched up, you stay away from that bag!' And so instead I worked out to a Tae-Bo tape that I got from a friend of mine. So, although you were unaware if it, you helped me get safely to day 3, thanks!
ATKINS?!!? Good heavens! I can honestly say I am not a fan of Atkins. Mostly because I hate the meat/poultry industry in every way and am not to fond of fishing practices either, so I think it's ethically and environmentally evil, and not a sustainable diet (in regards to the environment at least). Keep in mind also that I'm a tree hugging vegetarian - and my spiteful words are just me venting and certainly not directed at you. Sometimes I just can't hold my tongue.
I actually tried Atkins (yes, as a vegetarian!) for a few weeks, and although I did lose about 5
pounds a week, I was super limited (it was before all the manufacturers got on the Atkins bandwagon) and needed to indulge in some fruit (it is my favorite food in the world). But, ultimately, you have to do what feels right for you. I just wish eating a whole loaf of rustic olive bread didn't feel so darn good to me!
Hey! How'd you get me talking about food?
I've babbled enough for today, I'd say.
Happy New Mexico perusals,
-Dana
