"To restore normal weight, the liver's bile ducts must be open for one thing, so that food is digested better, especially fats, which a Vata type needs a lot of. Sleeping before 10pm is necessary to help the liver produce enough bile for the next day. Making lumch the main meal, allows you derive the maximum nutritional benefit (up to 90%) from food. Eating the main meal in the evening would not only minimize nutrient absorption to as little as 10%, but also generate extra waste that would have a congesting effect. Vata types benefit from eating breakfasts such as oatmeal, lunches with a small salad, plenty of cooked vegetables and grains, nuts, and light dinners consisting of cooked vegetables or vegetable soups/stews, some grain foods, toast, pita bread, or similar. Light exercises, stretching, walking, etc. also help build up strength and stamina. Drinking enough water is essential (6-8 glasses per day).
