6-8 glasses per day are suffcient. Drinking too much can lead to loss of minerals and vitamins. It is best not to drink after dinner and during the night, until the following morning. Ideally, you should sleep through the night without having to wake up and and go to the bathroom. Then, first thing in morning have the glass of warm water, followed by the glass of warm water with lemon and honey. If you find that the urine is becoming like water, you may be drinking too much.
