I am new to this forum and I am so glad I found it!
I recently tried colonics for the first time
My first session went well, was cleansing but not traumatic. So I signed up for two more.
My second session was very thorough, quite messy and a little traumatic because of all of the clean up involved..BUT it was exciting because so much came out of me.
However, I had some bleeding afterwards and it lasted about 5 days. It wasn't a lot of blood but some bright red drops would come out with a little mucus for the first few days. Then I started having bowel movements and saw blood in the stool. Again it wasn't much at all but enough to frighten me!
My CT thought it could have been a few different things (a worm on the intestinal wall, or internal hemmeroids). I got scared though. It did go away and now I am contemplating whether I want to do a third.
Has anyone else had experience with bleeding afterwards?
My regular doctor was concerned about perforations of the colon, but I didn't have any symptoms that indicated that had happened.

I suggest that you refrain from any more colonics for a while until you figure out what's going on. It's probably a good idea to do the third of the series, but not at this time.
What your CT is saying makes sense, and I'm glad you have discussed it with your doctor. Is he/she an MD? Do you have access to an ND (Naturopathic doctor) where you live?
Did you originally go for a colonic because of constipation problems or as a desire to cleanse? Were you taking enemas prior to the colonics? If you feel enemas might help before you get back to colonics, be sure not to insert the rectal tip more than about 2 inches or so.

Well, the bleeding stopped so I don't know if I can actually figure out what happened now. My third visit would have been last week, after the bleeding stopped, but I was nervous so I postponed it.
Since some time has passed with no more bleeding I thought I would go for the third, but the fear keeps creeping up.
I wasn't doing enemas beforehand. I went for constipation basically and just to see what it would be like. I have had bowel movements at least once a day (after the first two days with none) since the last colonic. I am also taking Primal Defense, so that may be helping as well.
My CT mentioned using some aloe vera juice beforehand in case it was internal hemerroids.

Oh I forgot to answer-
My doctor is an MD, not a naturopath.
I am sure there are naturopathic doctors in the area, but I haven't really searched yet. I plan to....

This is a reply to # 461,818Hi there. You should have a look at Proctitis as maybe causing the problem. I know of someone who had a case of bleeding and mucous after an enema. It can be caused by bacteria.

Thanks...I guess I should check w/ my regular MD before getting another colonic. I've certainly been told that one SHOULD NOT get a colonic while bleeding is still present, but my CT seems to think it would be okay to try again since the bleeding stopped already.

This is a reply to # 461,825Although I am an enthusiastic promoter of holistic and natural health care alternative treatments, I do believe there is a role for traditional medical doctors in health care in certain situations.
In your specific case I wouldn't rule out a colonoscopy, and I would encourage you to at least consider it and discuss it with your doctor.
