Perspective and relativeness!!!! in terms of calories burned!!!
This does not take into consideration muscle toning (toned muscles burns much more calories than same volume of fat), muscular endurance, heart health, general fitness, etc etc.
By doing physical activity first thing in the morning, what is being manipulated is your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). By exercising first thing in the morning you bring it up to its peak much earlier in the day, about 3-6 extra hours of a higher energy burning rate. Without raising the BMR in the morning, you naturally reach this peak about noon time. After about noon, early afternoon, your BMR starts to slowly taper off and is at its lowest during your sleep stage. If you do your physical activity in the afternoon or evening you can delay the drop a bit and burn some extra calories, but no where near the amount of calories burned if your BMR is peaked first thing in the morning.
I've really take to eating raw almonds (snacks) for protein; do like to indulge in some sort of meat, but don't really crave it.
I used to be a physical fitness and lifestyle counsellor, amongst many other things, in case you're wondering.
