I am a 62-yer-old female and am curently undergoing tests in relation to the following symptoms: (1) unwanted weight loss so that I am about 5 kilos below my ideal weight, (2) a general feeling of tiredness and lack of energy, although I am still able to carry on my usual activities, (3) profuse night sweating, not of the "hot flush" menopausal type, but rather sweating while feeling quite cool - this sweating has been going on for about 6 weeks and is so bad that I have to get up and change my night clothes once or twice a night.
My doctor has detected a weakness in the liver, but so far a CAT scan has revealed nothing, nor have the initial results of a laparoscopy which was done yesterday. I am told they need to do more extensive tests.
It is no doubt relevant to tell you that from last August to February of this year I followed a mostly rawfood diet - on the encouragement of my son who is convinced of its efficacy! I have always eaten a healthy diet and the changes to rawfood did not signify a dramatic change, but certainly I was eating less cooked food like rice and pasta and fish and had cut out the one or two glasses of red wine I had been used to drinking most evenings with dinner - let's say 5 days out of 7. However, I continued to eat wholemeal bread for breakfast and occasionally had some grilled fish. Since February I have reverted to my previous eating style, which is almost vegetarian and whenever possible organic. It was after this period of rawfood that I suddenly noticed my weight loss, which has stabilized despite my efforts to eat generous quantities in an effort to regain it.
Another possibly relevant point is that a few months ago I began to add Water Oz Body Akalizer drops to my drinking water, designed to neutralize acidity and raise PH - in accordance with the theories put forward by Sang Whang in his book "Reverse Aging". In addition I was taking "Active-H", a food supplement of vegetable and algaea powder, plus mixed fruit powder with rice bran, with mineral clusters providing hydrogen ions. Both of these supplements I have suspended for the moment.
A final possibly relevant fact is that in January of this year I was in Bali, where I suppose I could have picked up some tropical infection.
I fear that I am going to be subject to an endless series of futile tests and needless to say the uncertainty of my situation is very distressing. For this reason I am appealing to you in case you can throw some light on the possible cause of my symptoms (especially the debilitating night sweats) and give me some guidelines as to how I should proceed.
Heartfelt thanks.
