Dear Izzie,
Yes, it is a very good idea to do the liver cleanse once you have completed your fast. Fasting breaks down a lot of toxins, but unless the bile ducts of the liver are open, a good amount of these toxins get caught up in the liver and cannot be removed (via the bile ducts). Instead, they may end up causing stone formation. The liver cleanse is a great means to remove these toxins and numerous other causes of health problems, all described in the book The Amazing Liver Cleanse (www.1stbooks.com, tel. 1-888-280-7715) When you fast, it is equally important to cleanse the colon every day, in order prevent backflushing of toxins.
I personally don't fast, although I used to do many fasts between age 10-26. It is hard work and the gain often short-lived. I am 49 now, my liver is clean and I love eating (healthy foods). The need to fast has never come up again. Fasting isn't for every body type. Kapha types fare best with short or long fasts, Vata and Pitta types can suffer side effects such as dehydrating their gallbladder, due to lack of bile production.
To do the liver flush I recommend you use the above book. Once your bile ducts have been cleaned out, it is unlikely that you will continue to have Hepatitis C, for the true cause of this infection is bile duct congestion. The exact relationship of the two is explained in the above book.
With best wishes,
Andreas
