Thank you for asking.
I believe I have told a few of you about this testimony before. If I have, please just bare with me.
I always enjoyed reading the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John because they have Jesus's words to us when He was here in the flesh. I hold these words so near and dear. I was so inspired with His words to love our enemy that I type the verse up and hung it on the wall until those words were encrypted in my mind.
As much as I tried, I was nowhere near perfect (and still not). I remember driving on the highway and for some reason a car behind me was honking his horn at me, I've forgotten why. My first reaction was to honk back at him, but then there was that scripture on my mind that said not to do evil for evil. And I ask the God to bless that guy in the car behind me, but I was still just as mad about being honked at.
So I decided that it was time to have a talk about it with my pastor at church. I asked him that what if I don't feel it in my heart when I am praying for enemies. He said to pray for them anyway and it will come into my heart the more people that I pray for.
God really taught me a lesson concerning His plan. The very next day I leased my dumptruck out to this construction company for the first time. The owner of the company told me take my truck and follow his brother Jimmy to the jobsite, since I didn't know where the jobsite was.
Jimmy seemed to be preoccuppied, so I ask him for directions. His responded with such a bad attitude, saying that he was going to tell me anything. I'm really glad that I stuck with that scripture and rememember what my pastor had just told me that day before. I told Jimmy that God loved him. And when I said that, you would have thought that he was ready to kill. He started using profanity like it was the only words that he know and told me to get away from him with that. I ended up having to follow someone else.
After working for half a day, it was lunch time. I went to a store to grab some lunch and guess who I saw in that store. You guessed it, it was Jimmy. By this time I knew that I was going to obey Jesus's words. I spoke to Jimmy and he seemed to have cooled down from earlier. I let him know that I will be praying for him. He nicely asked me not to, I asked him why and he said that usually when people pray for him they always want something in return such as money. I said, "Jimmy, I don't want anything in return. I'm just praying that God blesses you."
That day ended and when the morning came, my wife and I prayed together for Jimmy. I then went back to the same jobsite. At the end of the day I notice Jimmy staring at me. He finally aproached me and ask me not to pray for him, it was almost like he was begging me not to. I asked him why and his response really opened my eyes.
He said it's because he was doing a lot of things that he shouldn't and so it was like he is in jail. And as long as he stays in jail, the devil won't bother him. But if the devil see's that he is trying to escape, then the devil is going to make it hard on him to keep him in jail. After Jimmy told me that, I was more determined then ever to continue praying for him. After that job ended, I didn't see Jimmy anymore for about six months.
I had put my dumptruck in the shop and was driving someone else's truck. On this other jobsite I saw someone that worked with Jimmy. I asked him how Jimmy was doing and he said that he was going to call Jimmy on the phone in a few minutes. I asked him to give Jimmy a message for me, "Tell Jimmy that Jesus loves him." Later on that day he told me that he gave Jimmy the message that I ask him to give.
I really didn't intend on making this story so long, so I'll try and make the rest quick.
I saw Jimmy the next day. I told him that there was a power stronger then the devil and that is Jesus Christ. He said that he knows and that every since he had seen me his world has been turn around. He had recieved Jesus in his life and told me a prayer request that he had. I prayed for him right then and later on that day he said that God was answering that prayer minutes after I prayed for him because of a call he had gotten on his Cell Phone
Thank you for allowing me to share that with you.
