Good morning Gill.
I haven’t come in here in a little while, but was led to the forum this morning.
Let me start by saying, welcome.
This support forum is a wonderful place to get love and compassion. These people have wonderful wisdom to offer you in these trying times. And I can assure you, we wont be strangers for long.
As you can see from Ev’s and Alikat’s posts, this place is full of love and wisdom. Read carefully what they have to offer cause they not only talk the talk but they walk the walk.
If I may add a little to their posts. I will write what I’m feeling led to write to you.
As far as your feeling of worthlessness . That’s what satan wants you to feel. But GOD says in Romans 8:17
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
So if we are heirs to God, then we are not worthless, but priceless. A value unable to put a price on.
As far as your church. Pray and make sure that’s where God wants you to be. If you cant get support there, you may not be in the church God wants you to be. Ask and you shall receive. Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying to leave your church, I’m just saying to pray about it. Ask him to reveal his will for you there.
He will never leave you or forsake you.
Gill, this is told to us a few times in the Bible by God himself.
Hebrews 13:5 and
Deuteronomy 31:8
Joshua 1:5
When something is repeated in God’s word it is something we really need to take to heart. I have a teenager myself and understand how challenging it can be. Then to add to the challenge I now have a newborn…LOL. God sure does have a sense of humor doesn’t he?
Lets join together here and go straight for the root of the problem, shall we? It seems to me you don’t have a whole lot of time and patience to beat around the bush.
Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. Most people think of this as monetary things. But we need to not only look and the natural but also the supernatural. Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy relationships, incomes, friends, spouses, marriages, children’s trust, spouses trust, bosses trust, etc. But most importantly he comes to destroy our faith, trust and love for God. That is his main goal. He is jealous of God’s worship and will stop at nothing to steal it, kill it, or destroy it.
The point is, to make sure you put blame where it belongs. Resist the enemy and he will flee.
Unfortunately for us, satan doesn’t care how long you’ve been a Christian. To him, the longer the better, cause he knows it will be easier to get you to get stagnant with your faith. The longer you’ve been a Christian the harder you need to work to keep the fire hot and bright. Let your lamplight shine before man.
Then there comes a time when you ask, but I’ve been faithful, why does God allow satan to do this?
God will allow temptation, testing and challenges to get you to flex your faith muscle. It’s not enough for us just to come into the faith, we need to also reach out to God to find our destiny in him. What is your part in advancing the kingdom? Ask him to reveal it to you. God didn’t save you so that you could remain the same. Sometimes he has to break down your pride or some other obstacle to rebuild a new character that reflects Jesus.
Sometimes God just wants you to reach out and fellowship with him. Sometimes you have to set aside the formal prayers and talk to him like he’s your best friend. Someone you can tell anything to. After all, he knows everything already anyway, might as well confess it to him. He wants to hear you say it.
A lot of times when I’m driving around I’ll clear the front seat next to me and ask Jesus to have a seat. Then I talk to him like he’s sitting there next to me, tapping his fingers, smiling a reassuring smile, nodding his head, just like my best friend would do. I tell him my problems, my anxieties, my challenges, my errands, my goals, my dreams and my love for him. BUT, I always end with asking him. What can I do for you today? I’m always on the asking end of the conversation and I don’t want to ask anything from you, but I’d like to offer my shoulder for you today. Jesus, is there anything I can get done for you today? Would you like to talk to me? Then I make sure I am still and quiet for at least a while to listen. A conversation should never be one sided.
And of course I thank him for being there for me. Thank him for all the wonderful blessings he’s poured out over me and my family. Sometimes, we tend to concentrate so hard on the lack that we forget that what we do have is from God. We forget to thank him for the little things he does to keep us going. And most of all we forget to thank him for just being him.
There was a powerful spiritual man that lived a long time back that once said.
“ I never pray for more than 30 minutes at a time. But I never go more than 30 minutes without praying”.
Here are a few scriptures for you to look up when you can. It is specific to anxiety. I wont post the words here cause sometimes God will lead you to another area of his word while you’re looking these up. Open yourself up to listening to where God leads.
Remember, God provides where he guides.
