No you aren't,
Unlike many others in this forum I'm not that much against root canals. I have one bad tooth that may need it soon, but I know quite a few people that have had several
root canals years ago (20+), never had to replace them, and in their sixties are in excellent health. My father infact seems in better shape than me... People in this forum attribute evil intentions to dentists whose sole motivation in life apparently is to extract more money out of you (pun not intended) while knowingly damaging your health. I think they're wrong, some dentists are excellent, some are bad just like in any profession. My endodont actually recommended that I don't do it for now, because there is a reasonable chance my tooth will recover. There is still no medical scientific proof that
root canals are bad for you. The famous Dr Price experiment from the 20s has never been repeated - it is of such immense implications that repeating it succesfully would bring world fame and money, so how come nobody did ? I believe that this forum is a concentration of the unsuccessful cases, which happen of course, and deducing from this about the safety of root cancals would be akin to deducing about the state of marriage by going only to battered women shelter. Every medical procedure in the book has it's own horror stories, including the most benign ones, and including extractions that so many people here advocate.
Find a good dentist by recommendation, like quality in any field, they are not cheap, but I can only quote my grandfather on that one - he said: I'm not rich enough to buy cheap things.
Good luck to you
