Hi msmom,
In my experience, the fasting process is one that frees me from the distractions of buying, preparing and eating food etc. and allows me more time to focus on parts of myself that have been neglected. Now major time and energy I used for food is being used in other positive and nuturing ways like, looking and dealing with myself, ie. my thought processes, fears, priorities, excuses, emotions etc. NYCDiane posted on the board earlier about honesty and wholeness. Fasting is about letting stuff out that you don't need, so the real you can shine through. Maybe that's why just thinking about this process can make us so fearful, angry, resistant, excited, hopeful and even awed.
Fasting can be seen as an act of love, true love for yourself and for others who want you to be around for years to come. For me,Fasting is quite a humbling yet freeing experience. You're never the same.
