No, not true at all. Sigh. Who STARTS these insance ideas?
It takes approximately 6 hours for food to make it through the 10 or so feet of intestines. If it went any faster, you'd die due to lack of absorbtion of water and minerals.
It's quite acceptable to have only one BM a day if you only eat 3 meals a day and only 1 is fiber-rich. Foods digest and transit at much different rates, fruit for example moves very quickly, so it's quite common for meals to "catch up" with each other.
Ideally, you should have as many BM's as you had fiber-rich meals the day before, but most of us don't eat enough fiber or fecal-producing meals to produce 3 BMs a day. As long as you have one good one, like 12+
inches long and 2
inches wide, your colon is healthy.
My Bowel Management notes has more descriptions of healthy stools. What they look like is more important than how often, actually.
If you take that
Colon Cleanse stuff, don't take it for more than 2 weeks at a time. It has cascara sagrada, which is a nice gentle laxative, but can still create dependency. If you want to cleanse for longer, just stick to the regular P&B shakes. DO NOT take laxatives just to have 3 BMs a day, that is counter-productive. Be happy with the one and don't weaken your colon still further due to over-acheiving.
Hope that makes sense! :)
