Hi,
Ascorbic acid has been shown to chelate out lead from the body, so why not excess iron also? It also has the ability to increase AND decrease white bllod cells as needed, "...when the leukocytes are high ascorbic acid tends to reduce them, and when they are low it tends to increase them." Irwin Stone, THE HEALING FACTOR - Viamin C Against Disease -

IF I WERE YOU, I would start very gradually with ascorbic acid daily/hourly, and see how I felt. I suspect it may improve your overall health rather than harm it, as many seem to think.
Best,
David
