I only did the Sucanat for a few days, not a full term pseudo MC. However, I did not notice any difference in energy. Sucanat is evaporated cane juice and Burroughs himself recommended fresh cane juice if available. I have a feeling Sucanat may be even less processed than the heavily cooked Maple Syrup. It contains many trace minerals and of course has the energy value of any carbohydrate. I mentioned Sucanat once in response to a specific question on the Master-Cleanse
forum, but since it is not part of the original formula I will not advocate its use there. Actually, after three long MCs and several shorter ones, I have adjusted the recipe to fit my needs. My drink is generally less sweet than the original recipe, although if I feel weak I can always add a little more Sucanat, I take the cayenne in capsules, although I try and put a little on my tongue for direct absorbtion as the Cayenne book suggests, finally I do not do the salt water flush because of the possibility of dangerous blood pressure spikes if the salinity is off, in fact I don't do the lax tea every day either, I think fasting should quieten the digstive system, not rev it up.
Still, I will respect the purity of The Master Cleanse
formula and try to keep the changes I have adopted in this forum only.
