My son has ADD and I've recommended that he get away from the SAD diet and eat only fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and some lean meats and fish + lots of water & good multivitamin and omega fat supplements.. In his first two days he's actually felt a little worse. I'm inclined to think that is the bodies natural reaction to not having the usual junk in the system and perhaps it is a sign that the body is starting to purge itself of toxins. I don't expect to get overnight results for him with this lifestyle change....but would be interested to know what other people have experienced (re: mood, vitality, energy, mental clarity, etc.) when leaving a SAD diet for a healthier diet.
