might i suggest you approach the *babysitter* to share the cost
of replacement?
or try to find a really cheap used version? amazon.com often has used books at markedly reduced prices.. and since you are just looking for 2 pages..that would seem a good way to approach it..
you have my sympathys certainly ,but as a mother of 3 myself
and a great deal of my life in childcare..
you have to accep the fact that THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING
*laugh* and really you are the one solely responsible .
frustratign as heck.. i know..
but you can't blame the *dad either, cause we all know 2 year olds are quick little experimenters...thank god it was only 2 pages lol!
this is a red alert to you tho /
to put books you value in a certain spot, then leave out books that the child CAN *write in*
on the table etc.. say these are your books do what you want,
and these are mine / you don't mess with over here and show where yours are .
you can be they will try anyhow.. so maybe for a bit leave down *fake books of yours til you teach them that you mean what you say about not writing in YOUR books/
but is ok to do it in THEIR books and even sit down and admire what they have written in THEIR books *smile* to encourage them to explore, but respecting others rights too.
if you end up wi th 2 kids btw.. consider extending that to where each chidl has ther own personal shelf and each has a shared shelf and they have to ask first to use anyhing on the personal shelf..
eveyone needs to feel they will have a space of ther own that they have the freedowm to allow or dis-allow/ how they choose to use personal items..
now that mine are grown i am so glad i did that for them..
they completely respect each others personal stuff'
and believe it or not it ends up with them being more open to sharing than hoarding .. cause they have the knowledge that their private space will be respected.
sorry to over-extend my answer to you..
might i end on a slightly humourous note?
one child i watched in particular at about age 18 months kept running into everything quick as a wink..
esp outta the blue running in front of others on swings etc,
who could not stop in time..
i had a great many playthings and areas for playign for kids.. so yes accidents came with the territory of playing as is natural.
you shake a bucket of sand in the wind it gets in eyes !! etc *laugh*
he was a walking accident nightmare. *smile*
well his mom asked me once.. geez he sure comes home all bruised up etc and he NEVER falls here etc blah blah
(we were at her house btw which makes this funnier)
i said yes i watch him of course ! i watch him turn and walk right into walls !
as if on cue at that exact moment while his mother was looking at him he turned and walked right into the door jam and got a awful nasty bump on his forehead..
it was sad yes. but inwardly i was saying, oh thank you !
*smile*
2 year olds..
nimble little nonstop bundles of energy that are constantly testing the boundaries and guided most often by selfneed.. food ,hungry/ bored/ mad/ they honestly do not see
something is bad until they are taught..
not that it is bad, but it is not allowed..
and who can hold anything against them , when they smile and say look what i did !!
.
well i made that into a one gal chatshow didn't i ?
please forgive me if i over extended ..
