I am seriously considering getting dentures. I have removed all of my
Amalgam fillings and replaced with composite. I have about 6
root canals and just went to the dentist and may have to have another root canal. I also have to have apicoectomy surgery on a
root canal tooth that did not work. When I mentioned my periodontist assistant that I may be better off with dentures she went on and on that dentures would really deteriorate the bone structure and that the bone will start disintegrating. She said that I am much better off keeping this teeth and try to fix them, but really, it is costing me too much (I have no insurance). To top it off, I spent a fortune on putting veneers of 6 of my front teeth and now it is hard to keep the gums healthy because of the foreign object and there is constant imflammation. This is something that the dentist did not revealed to me before I decided on the veneers and I am very upset about that.
So, I have beautiful teeth yes, on the outside, but inside I feel horrible and I would like to hear from people who have dentures or know of someone who has had dentures and what their experience is. My periodontist assisstant said that only 1% of people with dentures get a good fit. She said that it is very hard to keep them in.
Thanks again for any information.
