Hi. I take a lot of Chlorella. It does not, I believe, have any direct effect on candida growth, but it has great effect on liver function. It helps with phase 2 detoxification, which involves binding of mobilized toxins in preparation for elimination. Symptoms of brain fog (which Chlorella has helped me with tremendously) are the result of having mobilized toxins circulating in your system and not being able to be properly bound and eliminated. Brain fog has been reduced to the point of almost non-existence, TG! In my experience, and according to what I have read on some toxicilty sites, Candida loves and thrives in a toxic environment, and my candida got tons better after finally getting my toxins bound and mobilized out. So in that sense it does have an indirect effect. I know I am slowly winning the detox battle since I added in Chlorella because the follwing things have happened since I began Chlorella. Almost complete elimination of a frozen shoulder I had for 6 years or so. I knew it was due to toxins and there was no way I was going for the surgery! My finger nails are growing again. I have little hairs all over my scalp - new growth, and it had gotten pretty thin in recent past. Fatigue greatly diminished. I can sit crossed-legged again. Only a few months ago I was so full of circulating toxins that I could not get my right knee anywhere near the floor in yoga class, and if i tried there was a lot of pain. Now, I can get it almost to touch the floor. I have been "doing" Chlorella for a about 3 months now.
I should warn that I have been told that Andy Cutler, who has a unique view on how to detox metals, thinks Chlorella is not good, but I have had nothing but good from it. Just wanted to mention that caveat though.
