William G. Crook. The yeast connection.
Dr. Phyllis Saifer of Berkeley, CA in a presentation entitled, "Endocrinopathies in Patients with Chronic Candidiasis", pointed out that many of her patients with yeast problems suffered from associated disturbancies of hormone function including especially thyroid and ovarian abnormalities. In working with these patients she described new laboratory studies which assisted in the diagnosis. Measures she recommended in treating such patients included oral thyroid.

Candida exhaustion of the endocrine system is not a single disease, but rather the result of differing predisposing aberrations in the victim's immune system- ranging from subtle to life-thretening. Patients with Candida endocrinopathies are prone to develop various disabilities, such as:
1. hypothyroidism, subnormal activity of the thyroid gland, bringing about mental and physical slowing, undue sensitivity to cold, reduced pulse rate, increased weight gain, and coarsening of the skin (p.326)
