Hi Fiz, good question
(and thanks for responding to my Hallelujah diet post).
Well, I remember hearing something about the body goes through three stages daily (I think it was in fit for life?) which is something like cleansing, assimilation, healing. Or something like that. Like, we are cleaning overnight to noon, then noon to 8 we are absorbing nutrients, and 8 to 2 are putting the nutrients to use before starting over. I think I got the details all wrong there, but it was an intriguing theory. Anyway, they recommended only raw fruit in the a.m. I used to do that. I think it's a good idea, because your body will still be cleansing. Maybe not in the same way, or at the same rate, but still cleansing.
What I do now (because of my schedule) is drink 2 cups of water upon waking, wait 15 minutes, then eat 1 or 2 pieces fruit, wait 30 minutes, then eat something that can stick to my ribs like brown rice and broccoli dredged in olive oil.
I think that for raw foodists there is no problem with the breakfast issue, what you are eating is cleansing. Especially if it is only fruit in the a.m. And it will bring the metabolism up, which in a sense perpetuates a quicker and more continual cleansing cycle.
The idea that breakfast STOPS cleansing is when people eat breakfasts like cereal with milk, or bacon and eggs and toast, pasteurized orange juice, coffee, etc. No DUH it stops the cleansing!
