Hi Fiz! I am also transitioning to raw. I am finishing up my Master-Cleanse
in a few days, and getting things ready for 100% raw. I have tried high raw in the past, but the cravings for cooked food just wont stop. I am truly addicted to cooked foods. I like the idea of 90 days. I have committed myself to 30 days 100% raw, but plan to continue after that. I want this to be how I eat forever!
Today I made some raw tropical applesauce. This is something my kids (raised on SAD and resisting raw) request and LOVE to eat.
I made it today because my local store had produce bagged for "quick sale". I bought 3 bags of apples (about 4 pounds
each), a 4 pound bag of bananas, and a bag of green grapes. Each bag was $.99, so I only spent about $5!
I filled my dehydrator with 1 bag of apples and a few bananas. Then I filled my Vitamix 1/2 full with apples, added 1 1/2 bananas and filled up with apples. I squeezed some orange juice (pineapple juice works great too) and added a little. I start the Vitamix on Variable and 5. Then I add more juice as needed (try not to add too much or you'll get a smoothie) and turn it up to about 6. When it's the right consistency, serve. I keep the extra in a mason jar in the fridge for a day or two (its never lasted longer than that.
Keep us posted on your transition! And if you want to email me, feel free. I am keeping a daily journal of what I eat and events/feelings that affect my transition.
