That would be up to the consumers choice.
Naturally it all starts with what alcohol source a person was using....
ALL the old herbal books used cheap vodka around 80% and this you would never ad water/vinegar.
Today's commercial tinctures seem to be "acid" solutions made by a machine on demand.
I stopped using Vodka 20 years ago. Each person has to use what they have locally and as for vinegar----wow, very few people make that anymore. A few amish will make apple juice vinegar, but if you EVER SEEN the apple cider tanks, you would not want to consume the apple cider vinegar.
COMMERCIAL VINEGAR documentaries show that they pump it like a water falls / river adding allot of air fast and make it fast......then sterilize it at 5% acid.
So in reality, real live vinegar is something a person just about has to make for them selves if they want it clean........amish made is never wise, amish chicken eggs very bad, amish baked good worse....mice/flies plague their houses........
I added some herbs/teas to my 600 gallons of vinegar just a few days ago and am so pleased that my vinegar is bug free......pressurized with a simple aquarium tank pump that keeps all bugs out and lots of oxygen in the vinegar......vinegar must have oxygen and does not need the fruit flies........amish believe the fruit flies are essential and that is very wrong, they drink the vinegar...
Percentages and how---I never expose...rule number 1 taught by David Christopher MAKE UP YOUR OWN WAYS and if you make your living with your ways.....keep them to your self. WHY? His Dad Dr. John R. Christopher but his methods in a book and that ended their business, competitors put them out of business. David said dad's book was great, but ended his future selling herbs, so all he has ever had is the book business.
My methods are simple and based on Christopher's methods, just made my way. He believed we all need to make his formulas our own ways and there are no set in stonre perfect ways.
I 100% believe everything can be done easier and better.........I change a little every year.
Finally after 20 years of making Max Restore, I have somewhat of a finalized formula, but the formula is so gigantic,no one could ever make it identical, not even me.......but this time I made 300+ gallons in one gigantic batch---so for years to come, it will be "identical"...........ONLY something very successful can be made into a large batch........the minor stuff might be as little as a gallon and maybe take 10+ YEARS TO SALE....OR MAYBE NEVER EVER SALE.
Finding something that sales its self---takes YEARS.......luckily what I like to make, gets better with age.
