I had smelt a corn odor on his breath and decided to check his sugar. I being Type 1 had never been told that my breath smelt sweet, but that is one of the signs of diabetes. I didn't know if that was what they called a sweet breath. The doctor said that the sweet odor diabetics get actually, is not sweet. It smells like acetone (fingernail polish remover). Anyway his
Sugar tested 133, which to me was too high for after 2 hrs eating. The doctor agreed.
I had heard that if you find Type 1 soon enough you could give an antifungal to stop the progression. I had heard this on Doug Kaufmann's show "Know The Cause" (Dish, Ch. 233, 10:00 a.m.) He has a website knowthecause.com and a book "Infectious Diabetes". I couldn't find the info. on the website, and I don't have his book. I called his office and no one there would look in the book to give me the info. So, I started researching the web and came upon this website and found some info. here about the Islet Antibody Test. I asked the doctor to do the test, which came back ok.
I'm ashamed to say after going over and over in my head the events of that day, I came to realize that I had not cleaned his finger before sticking it. And, of course, best I can remember he had eaten a pixxy stix. I remembered in the past when he ate one that the powder gets on his chin and he rubs his chin to remove it. So, I think he had some
Sugar on his finger.
My sister and I are the only ones in our family, including aunts, uncle, cousins, etc., with Type 1. She found out at 17 and I at 25. My two children and her two are so far free from this terrible illness. I have an insulin pump which has been a life saver after almost dying in my sleep after taking long acting insulin.
We worked on a tobacco farm growing up and came into contact with chemicals. My daddy didn't believe in going to the doctor much, just doctor on it yourself. I had sore/strep throat growing up and my middle sister (the diabetic) had an unexplained illness involving stomach pain. My baby sister almost died from a 106 fever. My oldest brother had stomach pains when eating that would make him sick (nervous stomach the doctors said). My youngest brother had mono but none of the symptoms. My mother to this day doesn't think that it was mono.
I have over the years read that viruses can cause diabetes. I believe it. But, after reading the posts on this website I believe now that it may can be reversed. When it comes to my diabetes, I am a doubting Thomas. At the advise of some of the posters here, I am going to try the Incurables Program. And then the Master Cleanse. I'll let you know what happens. I have come to the conclusion that the drug companies will never allow a cure for this diease to come to market. There is too much money to be lost.
Email me if you like.
Thanks.
