I assume that means living off the land, right? As in 'off the grid,' survivalist, preppist, etc.
Farming I can understand. Especially the 'ethical' variety. What I don't get is how ppl imagine they can 'prepare' for the apocalypse. Only in America.
Well, you knew I'd get that one in somehow, didn't ya?
And just in case you're wondering....yup, still in Cyprus. We were s'posed to fly back tonite, but you know, force majeure, etc. So an xtra 3 days in sunny Cyprus. Not sure how we're gonna manage with all that xtra vit. D, but I'm sure we'll find a way.
It's a hard life, innit? But maybe not as hard as living thru the apocalypse. Just make sure you're packing plenty of heat when it arrives. You're gonna need it to fend off the marauding masses who will be hellbent on relieving you of your essential supplies.
Gotta turn in now. Busy day tomorrow.
Catcha all later.
Correct, but I was using the term a la Hollywood fashion, which generally depicts it as a survivable breakdown of the social order, usually following a WWIII scenario that takes in a nukiller winter. You know, filums like The Road (2009) and Refuge (2017). Or even this one:
All pure fantasy of course, but it makes for good box office coz it panders to our insecurities about the future. And it allows unscrupulous purveyors of survivalist supplies & equipment to cash in on the fears of gullible Americans, of whom there appears to be a plentiful supply. As an optimist, I assume that means you have not yet built your nukiller bunker.
I also am fairly confident that such scenarios depicted in those films will never transpire, especially those that depict alien invasions or zombies running amok, but they do raise some interesting questions about the role of providence in preventing such a man-made cataclysm.
As for the postcard, this is mainly a business trip, and the camera was left at home. I'll see if I can persuade my daughter to take a couple of piccies with her mobile.
Not sure I'd know how to post them if she did, but it may prove a useful experience finding out.
I have no intention of engaging in a vicarious debate with the trapezoid beyond what I've already said in my earlier reply to you. If he has a problem with the divine will and purpose as clearly set out in the book what He wrote (have one on me Tansy), that's ...... errr ....... his problem, innit? (Have another one).
Refreshed - I don't think you quite got the gist of my reply. I'm more than happy to answer your queries, etc., insofar as time permits. But I'm not happy for our conversations to 'spill over', so to speak, into a dialogue by proxy with an abusive boarder. Put another way, I recently decided it was in all our best interests that I cease feeding 'the troll' - at least, until he is able to engage some basic decorum for the conduct of reasoned debate. There was no intended or implied criticism of you in my reply, and I believe I answered your own direct question to me about the meaning of providence.
We got back in the small hours this morning after an 'eventful' flight - you know, the kind I don't like. Strong headwinds necessitated a diversion to Milan for refuelling - a first for us. Who woudda thunk that our fuel load was so sensitive to the weather? The idea of potential depletion on a shorthaul flight before arriving at our destination is a new one on me.
Still, at least we're back home safe & sound. We're about to get some snow here in the UK over the w/end, so it seems like we're picking up exactly where we left off.
Nothing much seems to change around here. Who knows, could be Providential.
So I'm the one who got the wrong end of the stick then? Oh well, it won't be the last time. Your reply was a direct response to an earlier post of mine, as indicated by the post ID no. at the top of your post, so it wasn't at all obvious to me that it was aimed at the troll.
Which just goes to show how confusing things can get when you allow a cuckoo to invade your nest. Perhaps you could aim your replies to my posts directly at me rather than looking over your shoulders at others.
That way we can know who is talking to whom, no?
No, I haven't, but I'm gonna hazard a guess that's the movie about the forced landing in the Hudson river.
Thx for your concern, but our 'event' was in no way life-threatening. I'd rather have a 3 hr delay than a forced landing any day!
