Or, perhaps slightly more accurately, an exercise in 'christian' sensationalism, wishful thinking, literalism run amok - take your pick. Regardless, there is most definitely an element of deja vu involved, for this is the story that simply refuses to die. It is the original 'fake news' story that shows all the other fake news stories a clean pair of heels. Bearing in mind this book was published around 1970, and the author himself testifies that he has been hearing such stories for some 40 years by then, we can say with some confidence that this 'story' has been doing the rounds for nigh on 90 years! Amazeballs!
Yet well-informed Christians like refreshed, with all the advantages conferred by the use of modern technology in the conduct of basic research, is still incapable of recognizing it for what it is - a piece of unadulterated sensationalistic garbage, nevermind the thoroughly anti-christian sentiment that occupies its core.
I'm pretty sure I've posted this quote before, but in view of the recent revival in these threads for the umpteenth time of the story that just keeps on giving, I thought it apropos to produce it here yet again as a timely reminder. Or 'refresher' if you prefer.
This anti-Christian idea of a new Jewish Temple in preparation for the Coming of the Lord is a fantasy that seems to possess premillennialists like some raging fever, resulting in utterances and writings that can only be described as delirious wanderings. How often, during the past 40 years, have we listened to "preachers" tell of plans that have already been prepared for this new Temple, and of work going on secretly in various parts of the world for the construction of different parts of this supposed architectural wonder. We have felt ourselves sickened as men who are supposed to be proclaimers of unalterable Divine Truth, have sold themselves to become purveyors of baseless fables in the interests of an unscriptural theory. These Temple fairy stories accord very well with premillennialism, being akin to its delusional character. Let the reader ponder the following example of premillennial sensationalism, and may the deplorable deception be a warning to all who are prone to fall for these things.
We refer not to some isolated record in a corner of remote obscurity, but to that formerly great magazine, "The Christian", for 100 years a steadfast witness. In its later years, under new control, it degenerated into a shadow of the old, an unholy mix of "pop Christianity", modernist eulogies, Romanist reports and prophetic sensationalism. Then sudden death came in 1969. Some would say it was suicide. One staff member told me they knew nothing of the close-down until one week beforehand. But let us not digress. We deal with prophetic inventions, and here is a report, in great banner headlines, spread over two pages of the issue of August 4th, 1967:
Then followed a report:—
"Five hundred railcar loads of stone from Bedford, considered to be among the finest building stone in the world, is being freighted pre-cut to exact specifications, and one consignment has already been despatched to Israel. Shipments are being handled by Pier 26 in New York. This report, received from authoritative sources in Sellersburg, Indiana, said that cornerstones for the Third Temple are already in Israel. Materials for this Temple have been in secret preparation for seven years, and it s believed American Jews are mainly responsible for financially undergirding the whole project.
"Strong rumours from other usually reliable circles say the two freestanding pillars for the new Temple have already been cast in bronze. If the pattern of Solomon's Temple is followed the twin hollow columns may be named Jachin and Boaz. The meaning of these names. 'Jehovah will establish' and 'In Him is strength', symbolising the continuity and power of the Davidic dynasty founded upon God's great covenant with David ( 1 Samuel 7:8-17 )."
The article went on to say:
"This Third Temple must be built to fulfil biblical prophecy: thus it passed out of the realm of political responsibility into the sphere of Divine appointment…The Church, as spiritual Temple during this present time, must give way to a material Temple in the next movement of God's plan for Israel and the nations".
What a hubbub of excitement this raised amongst premillennial speculators! But wait! Will you hear the truth? Eight weeks later, there was a devastating sequel. In the issue of September 29th there appeared an insignificant heading. (No banner headlines this time!) It read simply, "Jerusalem Temple". Then followed a letter from the Jewish Ambassador in London, as follows:—
"Allow me to refer to a story in a recent issue of your publication concerning the shipping of stones from the USA for the alleged purpose of rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem. I would like to point out that this story is AN ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE FABRICATION IN ALL ITS ASPECTS (emphasis ours). There are no such plans for the rebuilding of the Temple; no shipments for such a purpose have been made from the USA or elsewhere, and the matter has not been considered either in secrecy (as the report alleges) or openly. In view of the fact that the Temple area is now occupied by shrines of other faiths, both Christian and Moslem, and we would never touch these, the entire story must be considered an invention."
M. H. Sharon, Counsellor (Press), Embassy of Israel, London, W.8.
A further reported sequel was that a well-known British Pastor-evangelist in New York (a premillennialist) was asked by friends in Britain to investigate. He found, on enquiry at New York harbour, that there was no such pier as that named, no such shipment of stone—not a word of truth in the whole fabrication!
When the great apostolic preacher was charged with "madness" he replied, "I am not mad, but speak forth the words of truth and soberness." Such we conceive to be the bounden duty of every Christian witness, be it preacher, writer or magazine. But here is an example of sheer "madness". Surely, "The Christian" should have acknowledged its folly and error in the same banner headlines with which it published the fabrication.
We do not record this piece of tragic "Christian" (?) journalism as proof of the error of premillennialism. Our proofs are infinitely stronger— the Scriptures expounded in this work. Nevertheless, we are compelled to bear witness that this kind of thing is far from uncommon in premillennial circles. Particularly is this so in the Dispensational variety. Many a time we have almost felt like weeping as we have listened to Dispensationalist preachers, or read Advent magazines presenting lurid pictures of so-called "signs of the times" and alleged "prophetic developments". Sober Bible exegesis is abandoned for speculative extravagance, akin to the above reported "Temple Story". Let it be a warning to all who read this, first, to test all sensational stories as to whether they are true or false; and second, to ponder whether these anti-Christian "prophetic" stories are, after all, only a natural outcome of the basic delusion—the doctrine of premillennialism. "A corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit."
Arthur Carver, The Great Consummation, p134
new temples and red heifers - this is a story you tell the truth on. all my life ive heard it. 1948 - tick tock tick tock...

youre looking for a sign, thats how youre deceived. get your eyes off the world. and stop believing lying jews.
John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:54-56Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
1 John 2:22
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ?
Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
"we" dont need no stinkin sign.
James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
works every time for me. patience is required. your mileage may vary.

I think you've missed the point yet again refreshed. It isn't a question of my impatience, and the comparison with the perceived 'delay' regarding the second advent is baseless, for Peter gives us the reason in 2 Peter 3 - namely, that God is not willing that any should perish when it finally arrives.
No, the point is all the falke stories surrounding its 'fulfilment', which have all been 'current' since the 1930's at least, and reached fever pitch just after the 6 Day War in 1967. It wasn't just The Christian that reported on this 'story,' but Christianity Today as well.
But it was a complete fiction, and you hafta ask yourself, what credibility can you attach to a hermeneutic that engenders such rabid nonsense? It is the source that is the problem, on the same basis that a fish always stinks from the head.
Yes indeed - humans who 'interpret' the Bible in a certain manner. A manner that bears a striking resemblance to the way the jews of Jesus' day interpreted it, and rejected Him coz of it. A manner that has also given rise ot virtually every shade of chiliastic belief, with which you have elected to make common cause.
These facts alone should be more than sufficient to give you pause for thought, and seriously question whether you might be the one who is barking up the wrong tree.
The grip that this delusion maintains over its adherents is graphically illustrated by this good bro., a revvy no less who should know much better than this extract from his reply to me would seem to suggest. Some 50 years after the story was debunked, he continues to hold to it as virtually an article of faith. Now I don't know what it was he thought he saw, but of one thing I am even more certain than he is - it had nothing to do with the rebuilding of a 3rd temple. Here is what he says, among other things related mainly to antichrist:
The 60,000 tons of lime stone blocks are already in Israel and it will only take 18-22 months to build a third temple. These stones were ordered by the Grand Orient Lodge of Freemasonry after the Jewish victory in the 6-daywar of 1967. They were moved by rail from the Bedford, Indiana quarries during 1969 to Israel. Railroad gondolas were placarded with signs "Destination: Kearny, NJ, for Export to Israel". I watched them being moved in 1969 over a period of months. I was pastor of a United Methodist Church in North Braddock, PA and took my 3-year old son down to the PRR Pitcairn Yards to watch the trains on Friday and Saturday mornings. At that time the story was written up in the magazine 'Christianity Today'. Each stone was spray painted neon orange with a combination alpha/numeric numbering system for assembling to a master plan.
Rev. Robert H. Reid
And yet, here we are in the closing months of 2017, and still not a single shred of evidence that any such building project is (or ever was) underway. But why allow such considerations to get in the way of a 'good' story? Nothing I say will persuade him otherwise, so it only remains for me to leave the poor man alone with his self-imposed delusions.
Sorry refreshed, but you cannot divorce those delusions from the hermeneutics that inspire them.
