God still "speaks" to us, but He no longer uses prophets to do so (He spoke to the forefathers of the Jews that way, Hebrews 1).
NOW, God speaks to us by a SON. Many people HUNGER for the goodness of God, but we must also THIRST for His goodness (draw near to Him) because we seek whom our SOUL loves...
Sng 1:7 Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock
Sng 3:1 I sought him whom my soul loves
Sng 3:2 I will seek him whom my soul loves." I sought him
Sng 3:3 "Have you seen him whom my soul loves?
Sng 3:4 I found him whom my soul loves. I held him, and would not let him go until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.
Heb 7:25 Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them (RSV, the NIV clearly says "COMPLETELY)......
We've only been taught PARTIAL SALVATION.
Heb 10:1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near (it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sin, so God sent a LAMB).
Heb 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Jas 4:8 Draw near to God and he will draw near to you...
(there is no wisdom on earth that is sufficient to bring us to know God, but if we simply have the TRUE desire to "draw near", God will fill the gap and ensure that we come to Him).
Heb 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
(not because we OBEY a book).
Do you long for God like the maiden did?
Jesus can cause COMPLETE SALVATION because He brought the divine spirit of God for us to learn from (not simply because of what He did on the cross..."purification for sin"/flesh).
The ETERNAL Spirit (Holy Spirit) will purify the CONSCIENCE Hebrews 9:14) so that we "neither thirst".
