I am 19 year-old male, 5'9", and weighed close to 70 kg when I started fasting.
I have been water fasting for seven days (no supplements, no juices, just water). I'm also working an intense summer job - typically between 9 and 11 hour days of busyness, 50% moving (running, swimming, walking) around, 50% working on a computer.
I'm still feeling very exhausted, despite what I've read about exhaustion passing by this point. Moving around is a huge mental challenge, and I don't know how much longer I will be able to keep this up if the exhaustion doesn't end. Putting one foot in front of the other is challenging.
Something that I've been thinking about it adding things to my water. Someone mentioned lemons and salt to me as a source of electrolytes so that I'm able to keep my energy up. Would anyone here recommend this? Going out and buying supplementary pills doesn't appeal to me as I expect that my stomache would have a hard time processing these solid masses.
Are there other things that I can add to water so my busy lifestyle can keep up with this water fasting? Is adding things to my water a bad idea? Will detoxification slow or stop if I add things to my water? Will my hunger return if I do this? Will my body learn to be okay with water alone? Any and all advice is welcome, I just need to know what I'm going to do as I move forward with this fast.
Lastly, I understand that there are purists out there who swear by drinking water alone during a fast like this one. However, I haven't read much about people working hard while these kinds of fasts are undertaken. The reason I am posting here is that I can't seem to find information of water fasting while working a non-desk job and/or resting a lot.
You must know that tap water has many things you shouldn't be consuming.
Exactly what depends on where you live.
Chlorine, Flouride, Pesticides, thrown away medications, chemicals, and other assorted nasties.
When you're not fasting that water is mixed with the food you eat, and you probably not drinking as much, so it could be less of a problem. A bigger problem when fasting.
You should always drink distilled water when fasting. The reason is after all the nasties are burned off, the water is put through a charcoal filter to eliminate anything that might not be burned off.
I have fasted for longer, worked a fairly active job, and then went home and ran about a 7 minute mile for 3 miles with no problems. Still having a lot of energy.
This doesn't mean much because everybody is different.
I think it's the water. Maybe you should eat for a while and try it again.
