This is just my own opinion based on 50 or more years of water fasting for many different lengths from 3 days to 30 days.
Does this mean my opinion is right?
The point being that there are as many water fasting opinions as there are water fasters.
You are going to have to make the decisions based on your reasoning because there are some opinions that don't make a lot of sense, at least to me.
Worrying about oils on the skin, or brushing the teeth is comical to me. If you fast long enough, you are going to get so much gunk on your tongue and mouth which is sure to cause bad breath. So there is no way that I am not going to brush my teeth, and scape my tongue even if I don't go anywhere. You don't have to swallow anything.
Whatever I was to put on my skin to keep it from being dry can't be any worse that all the crap that comes with the water I bath with, or the pollution that is every where that your skin will absord.
As for the water, I like Distilled. some say it pulls minerals from the body. Yes inorganic minerals. Read this link.

How do I know all this to be true? If you fast long enough you will see for yourself the whites of your eyes will be white only, your tongue will be red, your skin will be clear, you will have a spring in your step, and so much energy you won't be able to find enough things to do.
