THis is day 5 of my first cleanse. My room mate talked me into doing this. We figured it'd be easier for both if we weren't cooking in the house. He's on day 5 as well. I just stumbled onto this forum yesterday looking furhter into what this was all about.I did read Stanley Burroughs book and decided to aim for the 10 days, and am takin it a day at a time. Heres what I've experienced, noticed, observed
My first day I had a whopper headache that built throughout the day and got bad enough by evening that I was puking. I had been drinking a lot of coffee before the cleanse though, so it's probably withdrawl. I felt better the next day.
The first couple days I was hungry but that does seem to have subsided and now it's more of a psychological? craving. I crave stuff like popcorn, chocolate, cinammon buns!! COmfort food! I'm doing 4 to 5 double recipe drinks a day. I'm kinda liking? or just settling into? the struggle though and am familiar with this from other areas of my life. Surrender and don't fight it.
I'm amazed just by way of observation/comparison of how much of my time in an average normal eating day is consumed with the preparation, eating, clean up of food, thinking of food, shopping, etc. In general how much of our culture revolves around food, and not a whole lot of it real healthy food!
I am also more accutely aware of all kinds of *%#&¤?§* happening in my body. I was a smoker for 23 years! (I'm 40 now, you do the math!) I quit just over two years ago. I have what seems like a permanent mucus build up in my throat. this cleanse seems to be discharging a lot of that, I have been gagging the stuff up. Gross but kinda cool! I guess it needs to happen.
I also seem to be hyperaware or 'present'. Definitely very cool and it is stoking me to keep going. I've been going back and rereading all the posts. This place is a gold mine of info. I realize I am only scratching the surface but what a gift!
Thanks for all your info\advice
