Hi everyone,
As I mentioned in a previous message, I have been dealing with chronic yeast and bacterial vaginosis for about 4 years. All my problems started after taking Flagyl (antibiotic) for 1 week. Before that, I never had a problem. I do not believe my problem is localized to my lower regions, because I have other symptoms too—white tongue toward the back, have had rectal itching, get weird rashes when I eat certain foods, etc. I did, and am doing, the STRICT candida diet…the problem is I’ve been on it for 2 ½ years, and when I go to the gynocologist I still culture positive for yeast. This is not OK. I have worked too hard to still be experiencing these problems.
I recently saw a doctor who RXed me 1 month of Voriconazole. I think this is a good plan. However, even if I can miraculously get rid of my yeast problem, I still clearly have a bacterial issue and just an out-f-whack gut.
I am seeing a doctor tomorrow who is familiar with the GEnova tests. I am going to request a GI Effects Stool Profile from Genova/Metametrix, whatever they are calling themselves now.
My question is this: if I get him to agree to the test, do I need to stop all supplements? Currently I take A LOT of stuff…Oil of Oregano, Olive Leaf, probiotics, various homeopathic remedies from a Naturopath, Coconut Oil, etc. Should I cease all antifungals and antibacterials before I do this test so that it is accurate? If so, for how long should I stop.
I think knowing exactly what strain(s) of yeast, bacteria, etc I have intestinally may guide me toward a proper treatment plan, because I can’t even tell you the amount of money and time and effort I have spent trying to treat this with little success.
