Since starting Iodine a few months ago I've noticed that my stool is no longer buoyant, but rather, sinks to the bottom. Is this expected? If so, what is the explanation.
Stools should sink. Floating stools can mean malabsorption. Iodine might have fixed whatever was wrong.
Floating stools are often an indication of high fat content, which can be a sign of malabsorption, a condition in which you can't absorb enough fat and other nutrients from the food you’re ingesting. It’s associated with celiac disease or chronic pancreatitis.
Ok, well, so long as there is disagreement, I guess I won't freak about it. I guess the fact that it's a change is what caused the interest. I might as well assume the toilet bowl is half full (rather than half empty) and conclude that it's a good thing brought about by the Iodine supps. Unless others care to weigh in?
I guess the point is that I had consistently soft, floating stools for years and years and now they are recently thicker and sinky (sinky, not stinky). I do wonder what has made the change. The notion suggested earlier that I'm absorbing nutrients differently definitely sounds like it could be in the ballpark.
