If you're one of the 15 million
Americans who is clinically depressed, it may because you don't
drink enough water.
I know that sounds over-simple. Believe me, it isn't. Dehydration of
the body leads to a multitude of
serious illnesses and degnenerative
conditions. Your body is 75 percent
water. However, your brain tissue is
85 percent water. And if you don't
supply your body and brain with
enough pure water on a daily basis,
you're going to get sick. Depression
is a common result of a dehydrated
brain.
DON'T make the mistake of confusing
liquids like coffee, tea, soda-pop.
commerically-produced juices, and
beer, with pure water. All of those
liquids cause DEHYDRATION. Here's
how it works:
You all know that if you're floating
on a life raft on the high seas,
that you shouldn't drink salt-water.
Why? Because for every cup of salt-
water you drink, your body needs
THREE cups of pure water to process
the toxic salt, and remove it from
your body. You don't need to be a
math major to see the error there.
But what you may not know is that
coffee, alcohol, soda-pop, and beer
work EXACTLY the same way. Let's
say you drink 12
oz of beer. Your
body is going to need 36
ounces of
pure water to process the toxins in
that beer. And if you don't give your body that 36
oz of water, it
will take water from your bones,
muscles, organs -- and that reservoir above your neck, your brain.
Of course you're going to get depressed! Your intelligent brain
KNOWS what it needs, SEES it (water)
in your living space, and yet you
refuse to supply it with the water
that is vital to your brain's health. Alcohol-induced dehydration
causes hangovers.
Depression might
well be looked at as a chronic
hangover.
Here's a quote from YOUR BODY'S MANY
CRIES FOR WATER, by Dr. F.
Batmanghelidj, M.D., perhaps the
world's most respected expert on our
body's need for water:
"Pathology that is seen to be associated with 'social stresses' --
fear, anxiety, insecurity, persistent emotional and matrimonial
problems -- and the establishment of
Depression are the results of water
deficiency to the point that the
water requirement of brain tissue is
affected.
The brain uses electrical energy that is generated by the water drive
of the energy-generating pumps. With
dehydration, the level of energy
generation in the brain is decreased. Many functions of the brain that depend on this type of
energy become inefficient. We
recognize this inadequacy of function, and call it depression."
So if you're depressed, ask yourself
these questions: Do I drink between
2 and 4
quarts of pure water every
day? I'm 63, and I drink about 4
quarts of distllled water every day -- and I've been doing that for
decades. I weigh 140
lbs. I would say that 2
quarts is the absolute
minimum. Next question: Do I drink
dehydrating liquids every day, and
if so, how much? If you drink 2
quarts of pure water, and the
equivalent of 2 quarts of soda-pop,
beer, and coffee, then your body is
NOT getting the water it needs.
The pure water you drink -- plus more from your cells -- is being
used to process and eliminate the
toxins in the dehydrating drinks.
So if you're depressed, I hope you'll give this a try. Drink lots
of pure water and freshly made juice, and NOTHING else. See if
you feel better a month from now.
And if so, give us some feedback.
Blessings,
Owen
