Last Spring I dug up about 25+ black berry runners and potted them and they are fully leafed out and ready to plant now…..BUT, all of the adult 20 year old black berry bushes still look lifeless and the raspberry bushes all leafed out…suggesting all of the adult black berry bushes could not take the -25 degree winter…….I do see some signs down at the ground of "green"-----so if the top bush got frozen dead, the roots normally survive, but naturally no berries for another year.
If I don't see any leaves in the next 2 weeks then I will be sure the tops all froze….and since these are not wild black berries, it is no wonder they couldn't take an abnormal cold winter. BUT, the peach trees survived and if anything should have froze dead, it should have been the peach trees.
