EVERYBODY seems to love taurine on the forums. But there is this study...
Taurine administration results in an imbalance in inhibitory and excitatory neurotransmission in the glutamatergic (hippocampus) and GABAergic (striatum) brain structures, affecting more markedly the neurotransmitter precursors.
(from http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18605241)
I thought taurine was inhibitory to glutamate toxicity. Am I not interpreting this right?
Or has anyone else had problems with taurine, especially relating to elevated glutamate / possibly insomnia?
I'm trying to link elevated taurine, glutamate and GABA on a retest and insomnia that began just prior.
