NICLOSAMIDE - TAPEWORM TREATMENT - INFO & DOSAGE FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN
Ref: Tapeworm Drug Protocol - Niclosamide, Praziquanatel, & Albendazole: http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1602094#i
Niclosamide is the most important drug in the Tapeworm Protocol.
It effectively kills tapeworm adults, larva, & eggs but only within the GI tract.
It has no effect on a systemic tapeworm infection that has disseminated, scattered, or migrated to other areas of the body.
For systemic infections, the other meds in the protocol (Praziquantel & Albendazole) are taken after the Niclosamide.
Niclosamide is no longer available in the US & Canada. It can only be ordered from overseas pharmacies. Upon request, I can PM you the pharma website links.
How to Take Niclosamide
No special preparations or additional steps (for example, special diets, fasting, laxatives, or enemas) are necessary before, during, or immediately after taking Niclosamide.
Take Niclosamide on an empty stomach (either 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal). However, to prevent stomach upset, it is best taken after a light meal (for example, breakfast).
Niclosamide tablets should be thoroughly chewed or crushed & then swallowed with water.
If given to a young child, the tablets should be crushed to a fine powder & sprinkled over soft food or mixed with a small amount of water to form a paste.
To cure the infection completely, take Niclosamide for the full period of treatment, even if symptoms begin to clear up after a few days.
You may (or may not) see whole tapeworms, larva, or segments in your stools. Niclosamide slowly disintegrates/dissolves the body & embedded head, which are usually passed as blobs of tissue or within the stool.
In patients with a severe intestinal infection only (not systemic), a second course of Niclosamide may be taken, after 7-14 days, to cure the infection completely within the GI tract.
If you stop taking Niclosamide too soon, your infection may return. Do not miss any doses.
Pediatric Use
Niclosamide has been tested in a limited number of children 2 years of age or older and, in effective doses, has not been reported to cause different side effects or problems in children than it does in adults.
Dosing
Oral dosage (500 mg tablets):
Adults—4 tabs, 500 mg (2g), daily for 7 days. First day, take 4 tabs (2g) in AM. Next 6 days, take 2 tabs (1g), twice daily, AM/PM, spaced 12 hours apart .
Children—Dose is based on body weight:
For children weighing 11 to 34 kg (24.2 to 74.8 lbs): First day, take 2 tabs (1g) in AM. Next 6 days, take 1 tab (500 mg), once daily, in AM. Treatment may be repeated in 7-14 days, if needed.
For children weighing over 34 kg (74.8 pounds): First day, take 3 tabs (1.5g) in AM. Next 6 days, take 2 tabs (1g), once daily, in AM. Treatment may be repeated in 7-14 days, if needed.
Niclosamide Side Effects
Along with its needed effects, this drug may (or may not) cause some unwanted effects. These side effects will go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine.
Less common: Abdominal or stomach cramps or pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting.
Rare: Dizziness or lightheadedness, drowsiness, itching of the rectal area, skin rash, unpleasant taste.
Niclosamide Drug Interactions
There are various herbs & parasite products that adversely counteract or interact with Niclosamide. During treatment, take no herbs or other alternative remedies.
Take other Rx meds, vitamins, & mineral suppements at other times of the day, not together with Niclosamide.
Taking Zanaflex (Tizanidine) together with Niclosamide is not recommended. Combining these drugs may significantly increase the blood levels & effects of Tizanidine. This may cause blood pressure to fall excessively, especially when rising from a sitting or lying position. The risk of other side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, & fainting may also increase.

Niclosamide is available at alldaychemist, drugprescripton4u, & onlinepharmay4save. The latter two are updating inventories; you'll need to set up an account to search drugs/prices.
Albendazole tablets are available at evroshipping.
Recommend the Valbazen suspension vs Albendazole tablets. Its formulation provides a higher uptake & bioavailability. Available at EBay & other sites noted in protocol.
Praziquantel 600mg tablets are available on EBay. In search box for all categories, enter: Praziquantel 600mg. Listings show for aquarium use; however, these are same formulation as human version, just different label as getaround to FDA rules on Rx meds. Also available at alldaychemist as Distocide/Biltricide.
