Agree with you that the BBC article & TV series don't provide in-depth, scientific details on parasites -- especially for folks like us who are more-versed on the subject.
But for forum newbies & novices who haven't done a lot of research on parasites, it lays out the basics in layman's terms.
What's more important is that researchers like Dr Mosley, et al, have discovered that parasites have altered their genetics & adapted their life cycles in ways that increase opportunities for infection while remaining undetected from the immune system.
Also, mutant parasites make it increasingly difficult to identify them with current testing methods. And their mutated forms have made them resistant to the handful of parasite meds currently available.
Dr. Mosley & other researchers point out that drug makers haven't acknowledged the existence of these mutants & forumulated new meds to treat them. That's the goal of their parasite research: Stress the urgency for drug companies to develop better drugs post haste!
So long as the medical community ignores the existence of parasites & fails to create new drugs to treat them, the more pervasive these predatory beasts become, adding more victims to the millions already suffering worldwide from parasite infections & other diseases they cause.
Sorry, Soly, my friend & comrade, but you opened a can of worms on my #1 pet peeve! (lol)
