I have suffered off and on for years from stomach issues - nearly 20 years to be exact. I had my gallbladder out in 1996 and a year later, all my health issues started - my digestion being the root seemingly of all of them. I went through all the tests, including an endoscopy and nothing was found of course. I have been gluten-free for years and try to stay away from dairy and Sugar
whenever possible. I am taking a good probiotic, digestive enzymes and HCL. I do castor oil packs for my liver regularly. I have been dx several times with systemic candida and leaky gut, but nothing I have done/tried for it/them has worked. Honestly, I have lived on a candida diet for nearly a third of my life and it has not worked. Lately (since my mom was dx with Cancer and most recently passed away), my stomach issues have gotten horrible. I could go years without having a stomach cramp, reflux, etc., but always knew something was amiss, due to my horrible health problems. So anyway, since the increase in stress, my stomach has been horrible. My health, incidentally, has gotten worse also. I am convinced they are connected. Everything I eat makes me sick - not vomiting sick, but horrible upper stomach cramps and bloating, caused by gas, and reflux. The reflux often triggers a vagus nerve like reaction, causing my heart to race fast and feel lightheaded. Only thing that helps with that happens is Tums. It calms it down within minutes.
I have had food allergy
/intolerance testing and even though I am not eating the foods I tested sensitive too, I still react to everything that goes in my mouth and like I said, no gluten, no sugar, no dairy, etc. Carbs and greasy foods are harder to handle, but whether I eat carbs or don't eat them, I still react.
Sorry, I know this is long. Anyway, I now suspect I have SIBO, as does my ND. It is the only thing I have not been tested for, and therefore, have never been treated for it. I do not have diarrhea or constipation (though I may have loose or borderline diarrhea once or twice a week), but I do have every other symptom of it. It also mimicks candida pretty much down to the wire, so I think it could have been either mistaken for candida or missed all these years. I am going to ask my ND about zinc for leaky gut as I know I am zinc deficient and will urge her for anti-microbials for the SIBO (can't have Antibiotics
due to the fungal overgrowth issues I have, as well as MTHFR). Just wondering if anyone else here has SIBO and had any improvement in their overall health (not just stomach issues), once their SIBO was treated. Thanks.
