MH 108
Hi MH,
HAY
I have a question about mould specifically on fruit.
OK
Many times I will buy a box of fruit such as oranges - the weight is usually around 10lbs.
There are times when one or two of these quickly go "bad".
I BUY CASES OF ORANGE FROM FLORIDA AND FOR YEARS NOW, 1-2 ORANGES WILL TURN TO MOLD, WHILE ALL THE REST WILL LAST UPWARDS OF 5 MONTHS...IT IS LIKE 1-2 ORANGES PER BOX IS SACRIFICED FOR THE GOOD OF THE REST......CAN SOMETHING LIKE THAT BE "POSSIBLE", SURELY THE FRUIT BUSINESS HAS DONE STUDIES ON THIS......'THEY" SURELY HAVE THEORIES...
By "bad" I mean they have an especially soft part and it seems slightly rotten there -
so I assume this is mouldy.
YES, A POWDERY GREY MOLD THAT EATS THE ENTIRE ORANGE, BUT OFTEN DOES NOT AFFECT TH ORANGES BESIDE IT....
With something like an orange it may only cover about 5-10%
of the actual fruit.
Can this "bad" bit be cut away and the rest eaten,
I WOULD NOT.
or is it ideal to throw away that whole fruit in this case?
PITCH THE AFFECTED ORANGE
BLESSINGS,
MH
