Milk was easy for me because even though I'm not lactose intolerant, whenever I have milk, I double over in pain. That's a little dramatic, but the point is it equals pain for me.
I've found that I can psych myself out about things I should have or avoid by consciously associating pain or pleasure to them. If I can look at something and see brain fog or no libido or hair loss, etc, then I have no problem staying away from it. And hydrogenated oils give me migraines, so that's easy. I just haven't been properly motivated to psych myself out about chocolate yet - lol.
I can't do almond milk either, but mostly because of the calcium they put in it throws off my electrolytes. I hadn't even thought about the copper angle...
