how much ashwagandha caps can I take a day (300mg caps with 5% withanolids)?
I feel the effect when taking two and a half (I empty some powder of the third one) but I worry this is too much when done 3 times a day.
Ashwagandha is pretty safe, so you are not overdoing it with the amount you are taking. If you take higher amounts the main effect you are going to feel is sedation from the elevation of GABA.
While I am waiting for my order from you I have the below question.
I have been taking tablets containing the following for about 1.9 years and wanted to know whether I have been overdosing myself with any of the below herbs. I feel drowsy and keep yawning the whole day after taking the tablets. It is mentioned that Lemon balm is a sedative so I have been assuming it is because of it but now wondering whether it is due to the elevation of GABA?
No, it suppresses the thyroid as does the prunella (heal all). The oats have a calming effect on the nervous system.
Rehmania glutinosa, root dry (Chinese Rehmannia)- 22 g/ day
Panax Quinquefolium, root dry ( American gingeseng) - 6 g/day
Avena Sativa, herb dry (Wild oats) - 4 g/day
Lavandula angustifolia, herb dry (lavender) - 4 g/day
Prunella vulgaris, flower dry (Prunella) - 6 g/ day
Melissa Officinalis, leaf dry (Lemon Balm) - 4 g/ day
P.s: I weigh only 88 lbs( 40 kilos)
James can please advice of any other issues this might of created?
My biggest concern is that you could be suppressing your thyroid too much with the lemon balm and prunella.
If I don’t take prunella or lemon balm I lose a lot of weight and my eyes bulge.
That sounds like you have hyperthyroidism but the herbs are keeping it in check.
My thyroid results are always normal (I have emailed the lab results to you).
Your labs do show one abnormal TSH reading, which could have been temporary from over suppressing the thyroid.
My antibody tests have also been normal. Another naturopath said I have subclinical hyperthyroidism.
The bulging of the eyes and the weight loss are both symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
He diagnosed this using an Electro Interstitial scanner. I don’t wether I am losing weight because of some other reason something like crohn’s, ulcerative colitis or diverticulitis.
Not likely. More likely from the hyperthyroidism.
James I have sent an email to you. I am the person who consulted you over Skype from Sydney, Australia.
Yes, sorry I did not recognize your Curezone posting name.
