Over the past eight to ten months, I've had on and off & alternating diarrhea and constipation. I am from the Pacific Northwest of the United States and think I may have been infected with
Tapeworm years ago.
When I was 17-19 (5-7 years ago), I ate a lot of sushi, and one of my favorite rolls was salmon roll. After some reading last night and this morning, I think I may have ingested
Tapeworm eggs years ago and am just now seeing the signs.
Last week, I thought it was protein deficiency - lately I have felt fatigue in the afternoons (~past 2 months) and occasional indigestion and strange BMs (~past 4 months). I became a vegetarian a little over a year ago, and thought the symptoms could be caused by my diet (and so does my mother). This summer I began eating much more protein in my diet, but to no real avail; my fatigue still persists and I haven't had a 'good' BM for almost the whole summer (~past 2 months). [Note also: I've been on vacation for the summer in a tropical environment - could my discomfort, etc. stem from a simple climate change?]
I also read that the
Tapeworm can cause a B12 deficiency, causing anemia and possible spinal cord damage, which in turn causes a "change in mental state." Can anyone describe this "change" for me? Over the past 6 months, I've felt disconnected, dizzy, and have somewhat blurry vision. I often see strange "glows" around alight or simply bright objects. I've felt unfocused on things I used to love to focus on. I've been taking B12 supplements in the morning the past couple of days, just in case.
Two days ago, on Saturday, I went to Vitamin World to ask the nutritionist there what may be wrong with me. He explained that without poultry or other meats in my diet, my digestive tract may become unhealthy and recommended me a vegetarian dietary supplement with a lot of herbs called Detoxapure Daily Cleanse (link at end of paragraph), which contains many herbs recommended to clean the digestive tract and colon: Fennel seed, Ginger root, Pepperment leaf, Fenugreek, Marshmallow root, Cayenne pepper, Milk thistle, etc. but nothing much that will kill possible parasites, unfortunately for me.

This is my third day taking the supplement, and I (thank Goodness) finally had not one but two enormous BMs this morning, causing my bloating to go down and the pain in my lower abdomen to cease. I did not see any tapeworm segments (they're white, right?), though there were some strange, (partially digested?) things in the stool. HOWEVER, I still have slight discomfort in the upper region of my abdominal and fear my problems are not over.
I called a clinic this morning and they asked me to do a walk-in check-up this week. As I explained my situation, the lady on the phone didn't sound like she knew or believed whether I had any parasites. I tried to express my concern as best I could, as I also did here, and explicitly mentioned my fish tapeworm concern.
Over the past few days, I have been debating buying something like Parasitin+ or Humaworm to cleanse myself once I'm back from vacation.
What advice do you, O' wise
parasites Support Forum, have for me? I will be extremely grateful for any and all advice, anecdotes, etc. you may have. I will also answer any questions ASAP.
Thank you very much in advance.
