I keep my pets flea free to stop the Tapeworm cycle. Dried pennyroyal or a pennyroyal tincture used in their bedding is quite effective as is using diatomaceous earth on their fur, especially around their eyes and anus where they come to drink the moisture. The eggs can survive and be infective for a long time in dust and trapped in rugs. I use area rugs that I can wash.
