Hi. I've posted on here in various messages. But, I've been hypoglycemic for over 20 years and have read lots of material, books, naturopathic doctors advise and just from my own experiences.
So here's a little advise.
Eat 4-5 small to medium size meals a day.
Each meal should consist of mostly protein and non-starchy vegetables.
1/4 of that meal should be complex carb.
1/4 good fat.
High Fiber foods are best, as they break down slower in the digestive track and create a slower-smoother release of insulin and glucose.
Stay away from all
Sugar and white flour products, desserts, bagel, white potatoes, pasta and sweet juice .
Examples meals: chicken breast
steamed broccolli
1/4 cup of brown-wild rice
apple slices with almond butter on them
few slices of chedder cheese
one piece of 12 grain toast with real
butter on it. 3 scrambles eggs, and
2
ounces of milk or V-8 juice
1 cup of cottage cheese with sunflower
seeds sprinkled on top and some fresh
sliced strawberries.
PS. Important always eat a good size snack one hour before bed. I like to eat 1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt, sweetned with a little stevia. Greek yogurt has 17 grams of protein per serving ....make sure it's plain-with no added sugar. And have 1/2 piece of 12 grain toast with real butter on it.
Always eat protein with every snack and meal. Protein comes in beef, cheese, eggs, beans, fish, chicken.
V-8 juice is the only juice I drink, as it is low in natural
Sugar and high in fiber. Get the extra pulp brand.
Do not go more than 4 hours without eating. If on a trip or extended day of errands, bring snacks with you in the car in a small lunch ice bag. Good car snacks, hard-boiled egg (already peeled) string cheese, pecans, almonds, whole grain crackers, V-8 juice mixed with some cold water. Baggie of small carrot sticks and celery, bell pepper slices. Raw seeds and nuts.
