I'm wanting to buy a tincture press and think this looks like a good one. I would like opinions of anyone who knows something about this. http://www.herbtincturepress.com/
I know cheaper ones can be found. There are two on ebay that are $40 and $75. I don't really know enough about them to know if there is anything about these two that would be considered inferior but I like the idea of the above link where he says he doesn't like the screws touching the tincture.
Also, would most of you who have a press consider that a much faster and/or easier way to press them than squeezing through a pillow case corner? In most instances my tincture squeezing goes pretty easy, but there have been times that it just wouldn't seem to go through the cloth and takes waaaay too much time. I think I had too much liquid.
I can't get one ordered by this full moon(monday) but I'd sure be glad to have it easier in June.

I looked at the $40 and the $75 presses on eBay, I don't think they have two containers, at least they didn't show two.
This is the one I bought from a company in Canada. It sells for 69.99 CAD, that converts to $72.22. If you buy $75.00 then the shipping is free! It looks almost like one of the ones on eBay (the orange one) that is selling for $139.95. Mine (pictured below) has two stainless containers and a plate that goes on top of the bag. You put the herbs in one of those Eco bags and put the bag in the inside container, when you turn the handles the plate squishes the bag of herbs and the tincture drains out of the inside container into and out of the second container through a stainless steel spout. I don't know what he's talking about when he says he doesn't like the screw touching the tincture, the screw never touches the tincture, its the plate that mashes the bag down.
I've used mine twice and I LOVE it! I wanted to order the biggest one but it was out of stock, so I bought the smaller one. I have decided to sell mine as soon as they get the larger one in stock. They tell me its on the ship on its way from Italy lol, I have no idea when it'll be here.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,812,072WOW Tennessee girl, Thank you for that detailed info. I went to the site and found myself wondering if the herbs wouldn't come through the perforations. Then I come back and reread your post and you say eco bags. I go back to the site and they don't mention them. I do a search and found this post of yours telling about these eco bags... http://www.ecobags.com/ECOBAGS-HOME.
Now, I still have a few lingering questions. When you go to the ecobag site(your link), is the 12w x 15h the ones you got? They are the ones at the top of the page. The item # is OCD310. Do they fit well in the tincture press you have? Will they do well in the larger one you are waiting for.
You know that I'm not going to let you get a larger press than me so I'll also wait for the large one to come in. Well, really I need to look at the measurements.

This is a reply to # 1,812,137I bought both the medium and the large bags because they were so cheap (they were even cheaper when I bought them) but I've only used the large ones. Yes, the OCD 310 are the 12 x 15, they really work perfect in the press I've got and they'll be perfect for the larger press too.
All of my tinctures are in 1/2 gallon jars, last time I pressed a whole 1/2 gallon of Echinacea I had to do it twice to get the whole 1/2 gallon pressed. Since we use so much Echinacea I make lots of 1/2 gallon jars of it and press a 1/2 gallon at a time I figured the largest press is the one I need.
Oh, one more thing, Uny told me about those bags and said that after awhile they'll start getting small holes in them after they've been pressed a lot so buy a few. Mine don't have any holes in them yet but I bought several of each size, they are really thick.
What do think about this weather we're having 'round here? I guess for me, its much better than the extreme hot we'll be getting soon but this is crazy weather here for this time of year huh?

I will probably get a few of each bag (large and medium). I will use them without the press until I get it.
Those dimensions on the two tincture presses are for the diameter, aren't they? I can see that five inches would be a little small. I will definetely wait for the large.
This weather IS really something. I can remember sweating in the sun more than a month ago, maybe six weeks. Then cold again, hot again, and then cold again. I don't ever remember it going back and forth this much. I think Al Gore chose the wrong global temperature for his "inconvenient ___". It doesn't matter though...he has his millions now. Sorry to go political on you. I hope I don't get deleted. LOL
Well, I've got to get busy tonight using the ol' pillow case. At least I have a 2' X 3' mat to stand on tonight. Thanks again.
